Description:
Under the supervision of Dental Director, provides basic dental services for clinic patients, including but not limited to: diagnosis, treatment planning, routine restorative care, periodontal treatment, oral surgery, endodontic treatment, prosthetics and pediatric dentistry. Emphasizes the importance of education and prevention to patients and staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Create reports as required by Salud Para La Gente, county, state and federal contracts.
2. Manage the daily activities of all dental staff.
3. Examine, diagnosis, and plan treatment for patients.
4. Perform prophylaxis, scaling, subgingival curettage, root planning, and oral hygiene instruction.
5. Perform endodontic therapy.
6. Perform restorative dentistry.
7. Perform oral surgery with special consideration given to patient's general health.
8. Provide immediate treatment of dental emergencies.
9. Provide local anesthesia.
10. Prescribe medications as necessary.
11. Submit evaluations of staff in a timely fashion.

ABILITY TO:

• Be able to assess the individual patients needs and determine what course of treatment is appropriate.
• Cooperate with the Dental Director in the day-to-day operation of the clinic.
• Direct the auxiliary personnel and understand the clinic personnel policies
• Maintain an awareness of the problems of patient scheduling and learn how to deal with the daily fluctuations in patient flow.
• Accommodate the needs of unscheduled patients, who are in pain, while maintaining the regular schedule
• Cooperate with the Dental Director in creating, maintaining and modifying operating policies end procedures for the Dental Clinic.
• Attempt to carry out all treatment in conformity by the California Dental Association.
• Conduct him/herself in conformity with the code of ethics of CDA.
• Perform his/her duties in such a manner that the clinic’s and the profession’s image is enhance in the eyes of the public.
• Keep up to date on current Dental procedures and techniques.
• Maintain an awareness of the value of the clinic to the community and strive to serve the needs of the patients with skill, kindness and compassion.
• Must be able and willing to work Saturdays and/or extended shift when required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Posses a degree from an accredited dental school.
• Have a current, valid license to practice dentistry; issued by the California State Board of Dental Examiners.
• Be up to date on current dental practices and materials.
• Posses or obtain certification in Basic-Cardio Life Support within six months of employment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required
