Responsibilities

Assist the Doctor chairside with all procedures, making patient comfort top priority

Take and develop any necessary radiographs

Perform any clinical assisting duties on patients within state laws

Assist the treatment advisor with any new patient exams when needed

Communicate clearly to patients any pre-op or post-op instructions per Doctor's orders

Update patient's health history at each appointment

Document completely and accurately on progress notes any treatment performed as well as notation of anything else concerning the patient's visit to the office

Consistently follow all OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions regarding infection control and safety

Maintain a clean and uncluttered appearance in the operatories

Maintain equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines using maintenance checklist as the guide as to how often to change solutions, etc.

Assist with any tasks such as sterilization or inventory control when needed

Participate in staff meetings, reporting units of crown and bridge, restorative production, and number of endo performed month-to-date

Participate in all team meetings

Participate in internal marketing programs (such as asking patients for referrals)

Ability to deal with needs of practice and patients and capacity to maintain a calm demeanor regardless of the situation

Ability to function within a team environment as a supportive and positive contributor


Required Qualifications

Associate degree from accredited dental assisting program with expanded duty training or on the job training with at least one year experience in dealing with the public in a consumer services area that requires greeting people in person. CPR and first aid training, as well as knowledge of radiation safety.
